The radiotherapy center is the biggest radiotherapy center in mid-south of China, combining clinic, teaching and scientific research. It is the clinical oncology radiotherapy base as well with high reputation in China and abroad. The department is the medical service center (Wuhan), the national “863 project” of cancer stereotactic radiotherapy clinical base, stereotactic radiotherapy center of Hubei Province. It is equipped with modern facilities, including 5 medical linear accelerators, the first volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) of Mid-South China, 4D CT simulator, modern TPS systems, Mosaiq oncology information management system and other advanced radiotherapy quality control equipments. The department offers various radiotherapy techniques, such as three dimensional conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy and volumetric modulated arc therapy, including image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). The radiotherapy facilities and techniques reach advanced level of China. About a hundred oncology radiotherapy technicians were trained at this department every year.
