Recently, multidisciplinary outpatient officially starts to treat patients. The service that patients only need to register once and then will be able to see multidisciplinary specialists to solve all the problems is realized now.

This year, the Outpatient Department actively launches the appointment services based on multidisciplinary outpatient, according to special characteristics of tumor and patients’ needs. We present details in the outpatient hall, set up an appointment consulting room and arrange a full-time staff. Patients only need to call to inform their condition; the discipline secretary of related chief specialist will be invited to access patients’ information and related inspection, and they will add the required inspection items; after that, the patients will be accompanied by specially-assigned nurse to complete all inspections; at last, based on the complete medical data of the patient, the chief specialist will convene the members of single disease group from targeted surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, ultrasonography, pathology, radiology, psychology departments for a joint consultation, to achieve the best clinical results.

Currently more and more patients choose the multi-disciplinary outpatient service. Because the preliminary work is prepared detailedly, a joint consultation of one patient could be finished within one hour. The experts express their opinions after a serious discussion and then work out the treatment programs on the spot, which avoids patients from running back and forth among different experts with different advice and then can not decide to follow which expert’s advice; moreover, patients could obtain knowledge about related diseases after face-to-face communication with experts.

Multidisciplinary Outpatient service will be applied gradually to treat common malignancies, such as gastric cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, lymphoma, cervical cancer, kidney cancer, bladder prostate, thyroid cancer, pancreatic cancer, brain tumors, bone and soft-tissue tumors, etc. This brand new service model not only benefits the patients, but also benefits the participated doctors academically from joining in the multidisciplinary consultation.
